long b4 i had 2 travel in a local train (after a week of trainin in a nearer office) d regrets & nightmares already began...as i was jst abt gettin used 2 travellin by alternate methods - bike, bus, auto etc. d train GODS called upon me... i knew they cudn't wait 4 long & were itching 2 have me back onboard...
i knew i was gonna have a bad start 2 the day.. i got in2 a train which was crowded as hell & suddenly my whole life was reflecting back on me..history flashed in my eyes in those 1st few mins...my shirt got crumpled even b4 i cud board d train...d same old dirty talks & words (common lingo used by locals in trains).. it had been quite sum time since i got a body massage - i jst wished i had asked 4 sumthin else frm God bcoz ohh boy did he ever Grant dat Wish ! i got D best massage on planet earth that day.. :-)
i had a laptop worth 40k in my bag & cell worth 20k in my pocket...i jst hoped dat dey were still worth the same amounts once i m out of dis misery...all assets depreciate & run out of life @ an amazing pace in mumbai local trains :-p
i suddenly realized d enormous value of a normal ceiling fan..dat noisy, dirty, crickety fan was like a lifeline 2 me 4 dose few moments...this can only truly b understud by only dose of us who sit in an air conditioned office d whole day..standing below a fan in d madenin april heat & it suddenly goes OFF.. !
but then i saw d sweat on d brows of men with half grey & white hair, saw the toil in their eyes & said to myself - THANK YOU GOD & went to work content... Happy Summers :-)

In life such incidents which happens..... may sometimes enlighten us to realize some deep human values which we would not thought of otherwise...:)
ReplyDeletegud 1 dude... keep posting
ReplyDeleteanother good one!
ReplyDeleteAnd here's another story from me on this one... :P
Trains.... where do i start... will write a separate post for this one methinks... but before that... in brief, trains here taught me a few things:
1. If ur to survie here, and more importantly to ride on 'em, you have to be able to scream ur way out of a dangerous situation.
2. That life and the trains are great levelers.
3. If u leave ur seat often for ur brethren who truly need it, one day, they too shall leave theirs fr u, when u are in need!
As i said, long stories can be writtren by each one of us on this commute. For now, keep going! :) Fadhel, U write well! :)
